What is Meigiren?

Meigi Ren Kumiai is a group of maiko and geiko located in Naka Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
Nagoya has long been called "Nagoya, the center of arts," and its art culture has a history of 300 years since it flourished during the time of the Owari Tokugawa family.
Nagoya's only group of geisha who inherited that art culture is Meigiren.

Currently, about 20 members belong to the group, and their specialties are Japanese dance, musical instruments, taiko drums, flutes, Japanese music, shamisen, singing, and the traditional art of "Kin Shachi".
